MSC certification for fisheries

Since 2007 Queens Products carries the MSC label on a large number of its fresh frozen fish and the number of certified products is still growing. MSC is short for Marine Stewardship Council. MSC was founded during the nineties of the last century.

This international surveillance-organization  MSC, gives a (MSC) label to sustainably caught fish species. The blue MSC-label is pictured on various packaging of Queens Products. The MSC standard for sustainable fishery has been developed between 1997 and 1999. The MSC standard has its roots in the code of conduct for conscientious  fishery, drawn up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The three basic principles of the MSC standard for sustainable fishery are: Fish stocks (or stocks of shellfish and crustaceans) must be healthy and stay that way. The influence of fisheries on the eco-system must be restricted and stay restricted. At this moment not every fishery in the world is MSC certified. When we buy fish that may not yet carry the MSC label, Queens Products selects the partner-supplier on basis of conscientious and well-considered production systems.
