Smuldier pet food has a consistent quality. Quality checks at the production chain of meat and during the production of pet food, guarantee safe products. Slaughterhouses approved by the EU supply the meat.

Smuldier products are natural. They do not contain aromatic substances, no colouring and flavouring and no preservatives. The meat has been approved by the nVWA based on the requirements, which also apply for human consumption.

Legislations and rules
The legislation for pet food lies in between the legislation of human food and feed for agricultural animals. Therefore the legislations and rules that apply for humans, largely apply for the production of pet food as well. A number of rules fall under the legislation for animals.

From 1 May 2003 established guidelines (Vo.2002/1772/EU)apply for pet food in Holland and Europe. In this law the requirements are established with which a pet food producer has to comply.
For pet food is furthermore the EG regulation 183/2055 effective. The nVWA checks if companies stick to the rules.
