Information
On the packaging of all our products you can find useful supplementary information, besides all details laid down by law. Queens Products gives on the packaging of fresh frozen fish information about the species, shape, colour and method of preparation.
We also state on the product the name of the species, the Latin name of the fish and its origin, such as fish from wild catch or aquaculture. This prevents indistinctness and questions from consumers.

A good true-to-nature photo of the product shows the consumer what they can expect. Queens Products guarantees that the packaging contains the stated product. We check this regularly on the basis of specifications that have been put down for our products.

Fish from the North Sea

The Dutch love the North Sea. Our “own sea” offers a wealth of delicious fish. From herring and shrimps to mussels and cod. It’s important that we take care of the fish in the North Sea. Queens Products’ suppliers only catch fish during the catching season, to allow fish stocks to rest and grow again. With this sustainable approach we show respect for the sea life in our North Sea.

Consumers, however, want to eat North Sea fish all year round. The solution is to freeze fresh caught fish during the season. A group of North Sea fishermen work together and fish in a sustainable way for plaice in the North Sea (www.ekofishgroup.nl). Their plaice is MSC certified and put on the market by Queens Products. This plaice can be found as “Plaice from the North Sea” in the supermarket.

Pangasius and Tilapia

Besides wild catch from various fisheries, an ever growing part of the supplied fish comes from aquaculture. At this moment it concerns approximately 50% of all fish that’s eaten worldwide. Nowadays it’s possible to farm fish of a consistent high quality in a sustainable way.

Queens Products supplies, besides fish from wild catch, also fish from aquaculture, such as several species of salmon, pangasius and tilapia.
Pangasius and tilapia are offered in various packaging. Both fish species are very popular. Queens Products’ pangasius comes from one carefully selected Vietnamese supplier. In 2010 Queens Products introduced Pangalicious, an innovative pangasius product. From the start Pangalicious has been a success.

The tilapia of Queens Products is farmed in a sustainable way in Indonesia. At this Queens’ partner-supplier there’s more to it than fish farming: in its sustainability programme the producer also cares for the local population and economics.

Certified fish

Since 2007 Queens Products carries the MSC label on a large number of its fresh frozen fish and the number of certified products is still growing. MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) is an international surveillance-organization, which gives a (MSC) label to sustainably caught fish species.
Queens Products is registered under number SGS-NL-MSC-C-0250.

At this moment not every fishery in the world is MSC certified. When we buy fish that has not yet been MSC certified, Queens Products selects the partner-supplier on basis of conscientious and well-considered production systems.
In aquaculture a number of standards are used at this moment. On initiative of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) one single world standard is in progress: the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council). To enable surveillances on the standards, fish farms make  detailed records from the birth of the fish till the moment of their catch and processing. At this moment Queens Products still works with the guidelines of GlobalGAP for its farmed fish.

Our partner-suppliers for pangasius and tilapia are both member of the WWF Commission, which is engaged in sustainable aquaculture.
